Minehead

Minehead

Minehead is a vibrant coastal town located on the edge of Exmoor National Park. Known for its sweeping bay and stunning views, it’s a popular destination for walkers and nature lovers. The town offers a mix of sandy beaches, charming harbour scenes, and easy access to the South West Coast Path, making it an ideal starting point for coastal adventures.
Visitors can explore local attractions, enjoy traditional seaside experiences, or venture into the surrounding countryside for breath-taking landscapes.

For walkers, Minehead marks the beginning of the epic 630-mile South West Coast Path.  The route climbs steep hills, dips into secluded combes, rises again over headlands, winds through shady woodlands, and offers sweeping coastal views from moorland and the rocky cliffs that frame this stretch of Somerset’s coast. It all begins at the striking Iron Hands sculpture on Minehead’s seafront.

But the South West Coast Path is just one of many walking adventures starting here. Minehead boasts six Storywalks, a Millennium Mile along the seafront, and The Parks Arboretum walks leading to Bratton village. Footpaths radiate in every direction—onto Exmoor, out to Hurlstone Point where the Coast Path skirts rugged headlands, into Selworthy with its whitewashed church and inviting tea rooms, and up to Selworthy Beacon. You can wander forest trails and follow hilltop paths or explore the King Charles III England Coast Path. Wherever you turn, there’s a walk waiting to be discovered.
